About Kimberly Steele
I
am a full time piano & guitar teacher. I have been teaching private
lessons for approximately fifteen years. At any given time in a year I
have anywhere from thirty-five to fifty private students. I started teaching
shortly after Roosevelt University where I graduated with a Bachelor's
Degree in Music Theory. I have authored several article series on the
subjects of music theory and recording for online and print magazines.
I have always wanted the people I am in communication with to enjoy music
studying it. I feel that I am especially talented at making the learning
process fun without sacrificing quality of education.
Before I established the Kimberly Steele Studio in 2008, I taught in area studios and out of my home for a while. It was during those home studio lessons that I started experimenting with recording my student's practice pieces. I quickly came to realize that digital recording is the future of every young music student. For this reason, the Kimberly Steele Studio is fully equipped to record all students of piano and guitar as well as small bands and solo artists. I regularly record each student with a program called Garageband, but they also have access to more complex recording equipment through me in the Studio itself. I envision a future where every child I teach will grow up to record himself/herself at home.
Why I am different
I have always been an oddball instructor and I'm proud of it. The difference between me and other teachers of piano and guitar is that I will actually try to adapt to the kind of musician a student wants to become. Some people are natural composers and want to write original music--I will do everything I can to help them make that happen. Some students want to sing popular music, so I will assign that student to play and sing a pop song for a Recital. Some students just want to perform a few light classics for family, friends, or an occasional competition.
